Your help is greatly appreciated!

As many of you know, I am at the age in which I receive a very small pittance from the government called Social Security.  It's certainly not very much in return for all that hard work I put in over the years.  However, it is what it is! The hard part was figuring how to sustain some amount of respectability while trying to survive on it.  Unfortunately, legal secretaries didn't have access to retirement plans back in the day so 'true reality' set in the day I had to apply for disability.   The disability check was later exchanged for a lesser amount of Social Security the day I turned 66.  I thought my heart was weak the day I underwent open-heart surgery for a valve replacement but, truthfully, my pacemaker had to do 'double-time' when I viewed my paltry little monthly social security check after the government took out for Medicare coverage and income taxes.

I tell you this because I would like to enlist your help.  Whenever you decide to purchase a Zentangle Book or any other book and/or item from Amazon.com, I will appreciate you first coming to this Blog and clicking on any item that I have listed on the right side of the page.  Clicking on any item will take you immediately to Amazon.com and will be viewed as a referral from me.  You don't have to purchase the item you clicked on as it's just a roundabout way to get to Amazon.com.  Whatever items you order by going this route will be considered referred by me and Amazon will credit my Associate Account with a little bit of commission.  It doesn't cost you any more for your items than what you would pay if you went directly to Amazon and placed your order.

I am hopeful that I can maintain this blogsite and my website solely on the commissions I earn each month with your help.  If you can share my blog url with friends and get the word out to lots of other people, I will be forever grateful.  Thank you ever so much for your help.

Blessings to you all,
Karen Marshall, CZT

Moleskine Watercolor Sketchbooks

I just added Moleskine Watercolor Sketchbooks to the Zentangle Books and Sakura Pen offerings on this blog site.  Moleskine Watercolor Sketchbooks are top-of-the-line when it comes to sketchbooks and are available in many different sizes.  The "notebook" size is extremely wonderful in which to display 'tangles.'  It's small size is ideal and will fit into most purses or briefcases.  I carry mine with me at all times and then I'm always ready to share the Zentangle technique when the opportunity arises.

Zentangle - A new art adventure

I started painting in 1999 with Donna Dewberry's One Stroke and became the first One Stroke Certified Instructor (OSCI) in the State of Kentucky.  I opened Brush Strokes in 1999 in Nicholasville, Kentucky and rapidly developed a following of adult students numbering over 1,200.  Since then, I have continually stretched my artistic wings branching into watercolors and pen & ink drawings.

I recently travelled to Whitinsville, MA and personally studied with Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, creators of Zentangle, and qualified as a "Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT)".  Zentangle is a wonderful meditative type pen and ink experience that one needs to try firsthand in order to understand the power behind concentrating on one stroke at a time.  Having dealt with severe health issues over the past 9 years, I find creating Zentangles is a soothing and relaxing way to clear my mind of negative thoughts and to experience the creativity within my soul.  I hope to share the Zentangle experience with those who are experiencing stress in these difficult times as well as those who are dealing with their own health issues.  I teach in Northern Kentucky but will gladly travel throughout the Tri-State area.  If you're interested in learning more about the art of Zentangle and the philosophy behind the technique, please email me at marshall28@insightbb.com.  It's lots of fun to get a group of people together and learn to 'tangle.'  Whether it is a corporate function or a social get-together, I look forward to sharing the Zentangle experience with you, one stroke at a time, real soon.
